Spicy Green Lemonade

I love a good drink to pick me up during the morning or afternoon! Many of my clients find that drinking caffeine can really do more harm than good.

During health coaching clients receive food demos that are so fun and this is one drink they all rave about! It is easy to make, easy to adapt to desired taste and gives you a boost of nutrients that won’t leave you to crash later!

Did you know that when it comes to detoxing your body, it is best done daily rather than in short amounts of time? Often detoxing focuses on one body part like the liver or gut but the truth is that your body is in need of detoxing on a daily basis.

When you add the right nutrients to your daily rhythms you will find that detoxing is something to support your body and overall health rather than endure over a 2 weeks time. You will not need to do the hard detoxes twice a year if you incorporate a daily detox.

Did you know that quality animal products are to nourish and heal your body, while plant products are meant to cleanse? This is why you will find that a Vegan may wake up after years of only eating plant products and crave meat or someone who doesn’t eat vegetables may be in need of cleanses more often than others.

When it comes to health, you may be eating different things during different seasons of your life, but overall incorporating both animal products and plant products will give you the nutrients you need on a daily basis.

Lemon juice, greens and cayenne pepper are some of the easiest ingredients to create a daily support for your body. Drinking lemon juice in water first thing in the morning will help support your liver after detoxing at night and give a good start to your day. It could even shift your cravings.

Cayenne pepper has been linked to weight loss, relieving nerve and joint pain and preventing blood clotting. It also aids your body to detox on a daily basis.

You can add your own variation by removing cayenne pepper, making strictly lemonade without greens or adjusting the sour and sweet ratios by increasing or decreasing the stevia and lemon juice. Hope you enjoy!

 

Spicy Green Lemonade

 
INGREDIENTS

1 Cup Filtered Water
1/2 Cup Organic Lemon Juice
1/4 Cup Trader Joe’s Cold Press Green Juice
1 Dropper of Trader Joe’s Organic Liquid Stevia (non-glycerin)
1/8 tsp Cayenne Red Pepper Powder (2 good shakes from container)
1/2 Lime

INSTRUCTIONS
Layer a glass with 1/2 water, lemon juice, green juice, stevia, red pepper and stir
Add 1/2 cup more water and stir again
Squeeze 1/2 lime into liquid and stir again
Add cubed ice and enjoy for a refreshing snack, morning tonic or afternoon pick me up
