Real Homemade Buttermilk Ranch Dressing

When it comes to food, I believe that it should be delicious! Often, “Healthy” food is portrayed as being gross or packaged for a diet people try to survive for 30 days.

When I am helping my clients with crowding out their cravings, I want them to help change their pallet so that they can taste how delicious food is.  We eat food every day and it should absolutely taste good!

Often we are not even aware of how good food could taste, because additives and flavorings mute our experience. Food is used for nutrition for our bodies, but it is also meant to be enjoyed.  I teach my clients how to cook and discover that food can be delicious every day for the rest of their life.

In our home, we love taking foods we used to enjoy and make them more delicious and healthy.  When I am trying to cut our budget or stay within budget, we will take a packaged item we normally would buy for convenience and work on making it from scratch and more delicious.

It has been over a year since our last bite of ranch dressing.  Some of us are sensitive to dairy, so we have gotten rid of most dairy products in our house.  However, raw milk  and certain Organic whole milk dairy products have the fat and enzymes that our kiddos can tolerate to help them break down milk. So we enjoy using these in moderation.

My husband came into the kitchen the other day and said, “I would really love to have ranch dressing.  Do you think you can make some? ”   So I started experimenting and in 20 minutes created this fabulous ranch dressing!!

It is a joy to discover good real wholesome foods, so we wanted to share this from our home to yours. Enjoy this with raw veggies, on a salad, over meat or really on anything. It is like butter, it makes everything better.


Real Homemade Buttermilk Ranch Dressing

Real Ingredients:

Organic Whole Milk Plain Yogurt 2/3 Cup

Organic Mayonnaise 2/3 Cup

Organic Non-Homogonized Buttermilk 1/2 Cup

Dill (dry or fresh) 2 tsp

Garlic (Fresh or dry) 1 tsp

Black Pepper (to taste)

Real Salt (to taste) 1/4 tsp

Cayenne Pepper (ground) 1/4 tsp

Hot sauce 1 tsp

Makes approx. 1 1/2 cups


Mix one ingredient at a time in a small mason jar or bowl.  Add each ingredient until all ingredients are used.  You can add more of one season for taste preference.  Add more yogurt to make it less salty and light.  Add more buttermilk to make it thicker.  Add mayonnaise for more tang.

Store in the fridge.  Use within 5-7 days.

Enjoy with veggies, chips or over salad.  Is a great splash to any meal!
